2016 Vision Initiatives

By Church
One of the things I appreciate the most about Mountainview is that it has always been a forward-looking church. When we met in the grade school, we looked forward to having our own building. When we built our current building, we once again looked forward to reaching beyond these walls and that gave birth to our vision of starting churches and campuses. At our recent Vision Night, I had the pleasure of announcing that we have added our third church planting partner and they will launch on February 21. Michael Winnakur has been the Junior High Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Parker and he has been commissioned by them to start Cross Culture Church in Green Valley Ranch. We are continuing to support Front Range Christian Church in Castle Rock and Living Faith Christian Fellowship in Erie. In addition, we are still praying for God’s guidance in discerning when and…

Our Kairos Moment

By Church
I believe we -- Mountainview -- are living in a time of kairos, of God’s favor. Here are just a few examples: In 2015, we baptized 39 people (compared to 14 the year before) In 2015, our student ministry grew from 40 to 75 students. In 2015, we had over 125 kids attend Kid’s Camp. In 2015, we had 18 babies born to families in our church. In 2015, we had 77 first-time givers who each gave an average of $197 the first time. In 2015, we doubled the number of highly trained Stephen Ministers. In 2015, we held our first off-site Christmas Eve service in Lone Tree and had 100 attend. In 2015, we helped start two new churches here in Denver. At our recent Vision Night, I shared an ambitious plan to conduct the first extensive remodel of our facility. We are calling this ministry expansion EnVision --…

2016 Ministry Initiatives

By Church
You often hear me say, “I Love Our Church” – and it’s true. Mountainview is a healthy, life-giving church in an area that needs healthy, life-giving churches. To continue to fulfill the mission that God has given us – to Glorify him, Grow people in Jesus, and to Go into the world – here is what we are going to focus on: 1. Expanding our volunteer base. We need as many people as possible involved in ministry. I want to challenge each and every one of you to become a recruiter – a head hunter – and help us encourage people to serve in one of our ministries. The happiest people on the planet are those who do something that makes a difference. 2. Investing time and resources into leadership development. According to John Maxwell, “The speed of the leader is the speed of the team.” We have a great…

Living in an Acts 1:8 World

By Church
Jesus spent three years training and mentoring his disciples. These three years culminated in his death and resurrection. As he was preparing for his ascension back to heaven, he gave his apostles this charge: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. – Acts 1:8 We still live in an Acts 1:8 world, only we’re not in a Jerusalem neighborhood and Pueblo isn’t quite the same as Samaria (although it's really close). Our Jerusalem is where we live. For Mountainview, that means South Denver. It’s communities like Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Centennial, Lone Tree, Parker, Castle Pines, and Roxborough. For you, it’s your neighborhood. Our Judea and Samaria are those regions close to home but more than a five-minute drive. For Mountainview, that would be Denver…
