I took Tonya and the girls last night to our first Barenaked Ladies concert. It was at UCSD’s RIMAC arena and it was a great concert! I’ve listened to BNL for about the last 12 years and this was the first chance I’ve had to see live in concert and we were not disappointed. The girls have listened to their Christmas CD (“Barenaked for the Holidays”) many times over. In fact, you’ll see them holding a sign that reads “Elf’s Lament” in one of the pictures below.
I feel so out of it Ken. I had no idea that a group so named existed. In my growing up days we certainly had barenaked ladies but usually they were listening to music (The Dead, etc) rather than playing it.
Thanks for the cultural update. BTW, on a sadder note, the Depot is now a family restaurant.
Whoa – John and Jake are going to be so jealous of Hannah and Hope when they see this entry tonight! There is no doubt that BNL is our family’s favorite band. So I’ll have them watch the local paper every day so we won’t miss the band when they play their next gig in Havasu. And if they ever decide to play in San Diego again, let us know – you might end up with a few sun-baked visitors …
If they come to Havasu, we may have to journey over there as well. They would be worth the drive — it was a fun concert and we’d definitely see them again. I’ve uploaded a small video of “If I Had a Million Dollars” to my kenhensley.com site
