Real Connection (video)

By Church
Throughout this short letter, John’s feelings towards Gaius are obvious – he really loves him. As he closes the letter, he expresses his desire to not have to communicate by pen and ink but hopes to talk face to face. John is expressing a very natural desire, one created within by God: to know and be known, to be connected to others beyond superficial means. Our modern digital culture has allowed to be more connected and disconnected than ever before. The church provides a community in which people can build deep relationships.Watch more videos at the Mountainview YouTube channel. Looking for a Speaking Coach? The Glory of Worship (video)

By Church
God is the reason why we worship. We gather together as believers to remember, celebrate, and honor who God is and what he has done. This is the starting point of worship – not styles, forms, preferences, or strategies. The Hebrew writer reminds his readers that as Christians they have been given new access to God through Jesus the mediator. As a result, we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken – an eternal, everlasting kingdom. Knowing this, we are to be thankful and worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.Watch more videos at the Mountainview YouTube channel. Looking for a Speaking Coach? Choose Well What You Worship

If the last 14 months have taught us anything, it’s this: Anything in our physical world can be shaken. Our health can decline – with or without the coronavirus. Our savings and investments can go up or down. When people ask me, “Ken, what have you learned from the last 14 months?” here’s what I tell them: Your sense of security will only be as secure as what you worship. To be fair, you might be thinking “I don’t worship anything.” I'm not suggesting God is the only thing that can be worshiped. Worship is anything you declare worthy of your time and devotion. We all know someone who worships being physically fit. If you don’t know someone, here’s hint: they usually don’t look like me! What’s the problem with worshiping your physical body? Your body changes! It begins to wrinkle as you get older … and it makes strange…

The Anthem of Worship

By Church
I’m not the same person I was a few years ago … or even a few days ago … and neither are you. Science teaches us that … The cells that line your stomach can renew every 2 days. Your skin cells regenerate every 2-3 weeks. Bones regenerate every 10 years. Unfortunately, that donut from 10 years ago might still be in a fat cell. With the exception of the donut, all this renewal and regeneration goes on without much effort on our part. Now, you might be thinking, "Ken, that’s fascinating information. But how does that help me follow Jesus?” Here’s the thing: I’m not same person I was a few years ago … or even a few days ago. Not just biologically, but – more importantly – spiritually. Which brings me to why Christians gather to worship. It’s not to swap ideas on being better parents or grandparents.…

Easter 2021

Life isn’t a game. Life is a gift. Instead of viewing life as a game to win, I’ve come to see life as a gift to enjoy. But how do we enjoy life? Is it about making yourself feel better? If so … then what do we do when life stinks? If life is a gift, then who is the giver? Is it purely a matter of biological activity? As a person of faith, I believe God is the source of life. And I believe Jesus was God in the flesh. You might not believe either of those 2 things. That’s OK. I'm not asking you to believe the creation story or that Jesus is Son of God. I am asking you to take his message seriously. What is that message? God loves you and through Jesus offers you real life.Watch more videos at the Mountainview YouTube channel. Looking for…
